Public Relations Services for Nonprofit Organizations Issued by: Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Hampton Roads Chapter
Overview
The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Hampton Roads Chapter, is seeking proposals from eligible nonprofit organizations in the Hampton Roads region to receive pro-bono public relations services. This unique opportunity aims to support a nonprofit by providing expert communication and public relations strategies that will strengthen the organization’s visibility, outreach, and engagement with the community.
Scope of Services
- Integrated Communications Planning – Developing a cohesive communication strategy that aligns with the nonprofit’s mission, goals, and audience needs.
- Media & Thought Leadership Strategy – Identifying key media opportunities, crafting narratives, and positioning the nonprofit as a trusted industry voice.
- Reputation & Crisis Preparedness – Assessing potential risks and implementing a proactive crisis communication framework.
- Internal & External Communications Strategy – Strengthening communication channels and messaging consistency across internal teams and external audiences.
The selected nonprofit will receive tailored support aimed at addressing its specific public relations challenges and needs. The goal is to empower the organization with tools and strategies that will help it continue its public relations efforts independently after the engagement period.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, nonprofit organizations must meet the following criteria:
- Be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
- Be located and operate within the Hampton Roads region.
- Demonstrate a need for public relations support and alignment with the services offered by PRSA-Hampton Roads.
Submission Guidelines
Interested nonprofit organizations are invited to submit a proposal that includes the following:
- Organizational Overview: A brief description of the nonprofit, including the services provided and its mission.
- Statement of Need: A clear explanation of why the nonprofit would benefit from public relations services, including any specific challenges or goals related to communication, visibility, or community engagement.
- Previous Public Relations Work: Examples of any prior public relations or marketing efforts, including successes or areas for improvement.
- Proof of 501(c)(3) Status: Documentation confirming the nonprofit's tax-exempt status.
Timeline
- RFP Issue Date: June 1, 2025
- Proposal Submission Deadline: June 23, 2025:
- Selection Announcement: July 9, 2025
- Public Relations Service Period: Based on organization need and availability of PRSA volunteer(s).
Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Demonstrated Need: Clear articulation of the nonprofit’s need for public relations support and potential for impact.
- Alignment with Services: How well the nonprofit’s needs align with the services offered by PRSA-Hampton Roads.
- Organizational Impact: The anticipated impact public relations services will have on the nonprofit's visibility, outreach, and overall success.
- Feasibility: The nonprofit’s readiness and capacity to work with PRSA-Hampton Roads during the service period.
Submission Process
Proposals should be submitted via a Google Form by June 23, 2025. Please include all requested documentation in a single PDF file, clearly labeled with the organization’s name.
