To qualify for membership in PRSA, an applicant must have a reputation for ethical conduct and integrity and agree to abide by the PRSA Code of Professional Standards and the Society Bylaws. An applicant must be engaged in the professional practice of public relations (which includes teaching or administering of public relations courses in an accredited college or university) at the time of the application. Post-graduate students and individuals with less than two years of professional experience may be eligible for associate membership.
National Initiation Fee $65 National Reinstatement Fee $35 National Membership Dues $225 Local Chapter Dues $75
Special category open to those with less than two years of experience or full-time advanced degree candidates. Rates are as follows:
Initiation fee None PRSSA graduates $60 Full-time masters or Ph.D. candidates $60 Practitioner with less than 2 years experience $155 Practitioner with less than 1 year experience $115 Local chapter dues $75
Associate Members must pay the $65 initiation fee when converting membership to a regular member.
Members who have retired from full time employment may switch to retired member status if they are working less than 20 hours a week without the intent of returning to work full time, and have been a PRSA member in good standing for five or more consecutive years. Individuals may not join PRSA as retired members.

1. Print and complete the PRSA Hampton Roads Application. Mail the application, along with your check for $75 to the national office at:

PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying for national and local membership at the same time, please print and return both chapter and national applications with one check to the national office. Our chapter can accept applications for chapter membership only, but prefer that all dues go through the national office for accurate recordkeeping.
2. Complete the PRSA national application. Please note, PRSA does require that you become a national member before your local membership can be approved.
